MANAGED MARKETING
DRIVING REVENUE AND
MAXIMIZING TEE SHEETS
CLIENT:
Chalk Mountain Golf Club & Morro Bay Golf Club
Joel Clay, owner of Golden State Golf Company and operator of Chalk
Mountain Golf Course and Morro Bay Golf Course, recognized Club
Caddie’s Managed Marketing solution as a chance to elevate his
operations. While each course had its own distinct challenges and
opportunities, the primary goal for both was to optimize the tee sheet
and enhance customer communications.
OBJECTIVES
The primary goals were clear: boost online sales of the SLO County Golf Card
(their best selling product offering discounted tee times and other benefits),
increase participation in golf leagues, attract a younger demographic with
special twilight and young adult rate campaigns, and optimize the tee sheet
through effective waitlist management, combating cancellations.
STRATEGIES IMPLEMENTED
SLO Card Campaigns
Club Caddie launched several robust campaigns to promote the SLO Card, starting with an aggressive renewal
campaign at the beginning of the year. Throughout the year, various campaigns were implemented to pique
interest and highlight benefits such as $12 Tuesdays. These campaigns emphasized discounted green fees,
renewal promotions, and exclusive offers, making the SLO Card an appealing purchase for local golfers.
Driving Sales with Special Rate Campaigns
Attracting a younger audience was key with many Universities in the area and a quieter tee sheet in the evening
hours. Club Caddie focused on promoting twilight and young adult rates through compelling social and email
campaigns. These efforts resulted in a significant increase in sales, contributing substantially to overall revenue
growth.
Leveraging Partnership for Waitlist Management
A pivotal strategy was optimizing tee sheet usage. Partnering with Noteefy, Morro Bay implemented a waitlist
system allowing golfers to join a waitlist and receive notifications when slots opened up. A dedicated campaign
promoted this feature, which was seamlessly integrated into all marketing efforts. The result was a notable
improvement in tee sheet utilization, with fewer empty slots and more consistent revenue.
Promoting League Participation
Targeted email campaigns kept leagues top of mind by regularly updating members about upcoming events.
This consistent communication ensured that members were always informed and engaged, driving higher
participation rates.
Automated Engagement Series
Maintaining communication with SLO Card members and new customers was crucial. Club Caddie set up
automated email series to keep members engaged and informed about their membership benefits and renewals.
A welcome series introduced new members to the club’s offerings, while a re-engagement series reached out to
those who hadn’t played in a while, encouraging their return. These automated touches kept the clubs top of
mind and maintained high engagement levels.
KEY RESULTS
Increased SLO Card Sales: Targeted campaigns
significantly boosted online sales, expanding the
member base.
Higher League and Lesson Participation: Enhanced
promotions led to higher enrollments, enriching the
golf community.
Successful Special Rate Campaigns: Twilight and
young adult rates saw dramatic increases in sales,
driving overall revenue.
Optimized Tee Sheet Usage: : Effective waitlist
management through Noteefy maximized tee sheet
utilization, enhancing the golfing experience and
boosting revenue.
Enhanced Member Engagement: : Automated email
series kept members informed and engaged, leading
to higher retention and satisfaction.
